JD 885 CULTIVATOR HITCH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The JD 885 hitch assembly is designed to extend past the floating cultivator mechanism for easy hookup to the nurse tank.

The following general instructions are to aid in installing your kit.

MOUNTING EXTENSIONS:

Mount the Hitch extensions to the center of the cultivator frame using the 7" U-bolts and hardware. Keep hardware loose at this time.

MOUNTING HITCH TO EXTENSIONS:

Mount the hitch to the installed extensions using the 5/8" x 2" bolts w/hardware....Place flat washers on slotted holes and tighten down all hardware.

MOUNTING BREAKAWAY COUPLER:

The Breakaway coupler is a safety device to prevent the escape of ammonia in the event of a hitch failure.

CAUTION--The coupler bracket must be free to pivot. The transfer hose must have sufficient clearance to swing and should never be kinked or in a bind. Thoroughly clean and inspect coupling before use each season. Completely replace coupling when oxidation ius first seen or after 3 years from new installation.

Install Coupler bracket onto hitch as shown at left. Use both 1/2" x 1 1/4" bolts with lock nuts.

Attach the female end of the breakaway coupler to the transfer hose. Connect the coupler end of the transfer hose to the coupler bracket using the snap ring. Attach coupler to the hose using a 1 1/4" x 1" hex bushing (not supplied).

Note: Refer to coupler manufacturer's instructions for operation.

USE A SEALING COMPOUND OR TEFLON PASTE ON ALL STEEL FITTINGS.

MOUNT THE METER STAND to the extensions as shown above. Use the 4" x 3 1/2" U-bolt and hardware. Make sure to place flat washers on slotted holes and tighten down.

MOUNTING THE METER

Install the Continental Meter onto the installed meter stand. A spacer is used to elevate the meter to have room to tighten the meter union nut. Attach by using the 5/16" x 1 1/2" bolts with flat and lock washers. Run equal length hoses from the meter to the ammonia knives.

Next install a 1" high pressure (#80) pipe coupling and the transfer hose to the inlet (union) side of the meter or in-line hydraulic shut off.

Note:Refer to operating/ setting instructions by the meter manufacturer.

Note: Use a sealing compound or teflon paste on all steel pipe fittings (except union nut).
